DIY: Turning off gas

How to turn off the gas to your home:

  

  1. Locate the gas meter: Find the gas meter outside your home.
  2. Turn off the gas valve: Use a wrench to turn the valve 90 degrees so it is      perpendicular to the pipe. This shuts off the gas supply.
  3. Verify the gas is off: Make sure no gas appliances are running to confirm the gas is off.
