DIY: Sink drain clogs

How to clear your own sink drain:

  1. Use a plunger: Place a plunger over the drain and plunge vigorously to try to dislodge the clog.
  2. Use barbed handheld tool: Utilize the hand tools, commonly know as “Zip It  – Drain Clog Remover”, insert into drain as far as possible, pull back hair and debris, dispose and repeat until clear.
  3. Try baking soda and vinegar: Pour 1/2 cup of baking soda followed by 1 cup of vinegar down the drain. Let it fizz for a few minutes, then flush with hot water.
  4. Use a drain snake: Insert a drain snake into the drain and twist it to break up and remove the clog. (Accessible drains and clean outs only, do not force into 1 ½” lines or smaller)
